Old Camp trainers
The Old Camp contains the highest concentration of early trainers, making it the best place to decide whether your first levels will support melee, ranged combat, crime, crafting, or magic.
Diego: Strength and Dexterity
Diego stays near the castle entrance. Strength increases melee damage and meets melee weapon requirements; Dexterity supports ranged damage and bow requirements. Each point costs one LP, with a five-point option costing five LP.
Scatty: One-Handed Combat
Scatty stands near the fighting pit. Trained costs 10 LP and 50 ore and unlocks combos, critical strikes, and parries. Master costs 20 LP and 200 ore and improves finishers, knockback, critical chance, and ripostes.
Fingers: Lockpicking and Pickpocketing
Fingers lives in the elevated hut along the inner wall, left from the castle entrance. Lockpicking Trained costs 10 LP and 100 ore; Pickpocketing Trained costs 10 LP and 80 ore.
Huno: Smithing
Huno works from the smithing hut in the elevated alley near the fighting pit. Smithing costs 10 LP and 50 ore and unlocks one-handed weapon crafting plus basic schematics.
Torrez: Rune Magic
Torrez walks around the covered southern market. Complete The Price of Magic by bringing parchment and two wolf claws, then spend 5 LP to learn Rune Magic and choose an initial Firebolt or Healing rune.
Trainers outside the Old Camp
Two valuable early teachers live beyond the gates. Their routes include wild animals, so save before travelling with weak armor.
Drax: Hunting materials
Leave through the northern gate, cross the bridge, and turn right toward Drax and Ratford's camp. Give Drax a beer first. Individual extraction skills cost 1 LP plus ore, including teeth, fur, claws, and reptile skin.
Cavalorn: Bow training
Cavalorn lives in a secluded house east of the Old Camp. Bow Trained costs 10 LP and 50 ore, improving draw speed, aiming, accuracy, and access to critical hits.
Travel in daylight
NPC schedules make teachers easier to find during the day, and the routes outside camp are easier to read. Place a map marker at remote trainer homes before returning.
New Camp and Swamp Camp trainers
Later utility and magic development lead beyond the Old Camp. You can visit other camps before choosing a faction, although some advanced training may depend on progression.
Cronos: Maximum mana
Cronos is inside the New Camp cave. He raises maximum mana one point per LP or five points for five LP, making him useful after Rune Magic becomes part of your build.
Theron: Climbing
Theron is found in the Swamp Camp and teaches Climbing in exchange for 10 Dark Scrolls. The skill opens easier traversal and routes to elevated areas.
Recommended first investments
For a straightforward melee start, buy One-Handed Trained, then Strength. Add Lockpicking if you open many chests. Bow, Rune Magic, crafting, and harvesting become stronger when they match a deliberate build or income plan.
FAQ
How do trainer costs work?
Skills usually require learning points plus ore or a quest item. Attribute increases generally cost one LP per point. Exact costs and prerequisites vary by trainer and tier.
Which skill should I train first?
One-Handed Combat is the safest first purchase for a melee start, followed by Strength. Choose Lockpicking early if you plan to open many chests and doors.
Who teaches Lockpicking?
Fingers teaches Lockpicking from his elevated hut along the Old Camp inner wall. The Trained tier costs 10 LP and 100 ore and allows four failed moves before a pick breaks.
