How to Join the New Camp in Gothic 1 Remake
Earn Lares and the Rice Lord's trust without accidentally handing away the supply list needed for the New Camp route.

Reach the New Camp and meet Lares
The New Camp lies west of the Old Camp beside the large lake. The safest early route is to use Mordrag as an escort instead of crossing the Colony alone.
Use Mordrag's escort
Progress Old Camp work until Thorus asks you to deal with Mordrag in Out of Sight. Ask Mordrag about his messenger work and let him take you to the New Camp.
Use Mordrag's ring at the gate
Mordrag gives you a ring that proves your connection. Mention it to the guards so you can enter and reach Lares without paying or fighting your way through.
Ask Lares about admission
Lares explains that talk alone is not enough. You need to bring him ore, help the Rice Lord's operation, and prove that you can hurt the Old Camp's supply system.
Earn Lares' approval
Lares directs you toward Baal Isidro and expects 400 ore from the swampweed trade. This becomes A Piece of the Pie and The Herb Merchant.
Get into the lake tavern
Baal Isidro is inside the tavern by the lake. If the guards block you, earn ore by selling Green Novice from Baal Kagan or pay the required entry cost.
Persuade Baal Isidro
Buy rice schnapps from Silas and give it to Isidro. Once he agrees to let you handle his stock, sell the Green Novice, Northern Dark, and Dreamcall around the camp.
Take the 400 ore to Lares
Give the full 400 ore to Lares rather than returning it to Isidro. This is one of the main approval checks for admission.
Earn the Rice Lord's approval
The Rice Lord stands near the camp entrance and gives a short sequence involving trouble at the tavern and the missing foreman Bran.
Complete A Few Drops Too Much
Speak with Silas at the lake tavern, then resolve the problem with Rayk. You can fight him or use the available dialogue route to calm the situation.
Complete Up to His Neck
Ask the Rice Lord for more work and investigate Bran's disappearance. Speak politely with farmer Malon to learn that Bran left toward a cave by a pond used by Jacko and Renyu.
Report each result
Return to the Rice Lord after resolving his tasks. Lares' route checks both his own jobs and the Rice Lord's confidence in you.
Show Ian's supply list to Lares first
This is the step most likely to lock players out. Diego's Test of Faith sends you to Ian in the Old Mine for the supply list. Do not hand the untouched list directly to Diego if joining the New Camp matters to you.
Start Diego's Test of Faith
Earn enough Old Camp approval for Diego to send you to the Old Mine. Find Ian near the lower levels and use Diego's countersign to receive the list.
Take the original list to Lares
Travel back to the New Camp before completing Diego's hand-in. Lares alters the document and starts Something the Matter?, turning the Old Camp convoy into a target.
Give the altered list to Diego
Return the falsified supply list to Diego, then report back to Lares. Players who give the original list to Diego first are currently finding that the New Camp admission route cannot be completed.
Finish The Raid and join
After Lares and the Rice Lord trust you, ask Lares whether you are ready to become a bandit. He gives the final special assignment, The Raid.
Prepare before leaving
Make a manual save, repair or replace weak equipment, and bring healing supplies. The final test is more dangerous than the camp errands that precede it.
Complete Lares' special assignment
Follow the quest objective for the supply raid and return to Lares after the target is dealt with. The quest only appears after the earlier approval checks are complete.
Accept the faction commitment
Lares rewards successful admission with the Bandit's Dress and XP. Accepting makes the New Camp your faction and prevents joining the Old Camp or Swamp Camp during the same playthrough.

Take the original supply list to Lares first if you may join the New Camp. He alters it, after which you give the falsified list to Diego and return to Lares.
What quests are required to join the New Camp?

Can I join more than one camp?
No. You can work around all three camps before committing, but accepting a final faction invitation prevents joining the other camps in the same playthrough.
